TONY Drum wood Chipper is the special equipment which used for reducing kinds of wood (tree limbs, trunks, whole logs, pulp wood, veneer, solid wood, cores, slabs, scraps, etc.) into smaller and quality wood chips, which is used as material in pulp & paper industry, biomass industry, fiber and particleboard plants, and also well suitable as fuel for high intensity burning in modern heating plants.

TONY Drum Wood Chipper Principles and Processes
Drum wheel rotation drive:
The surface of the drum wheel (cylindrical rotor) is equipped with multiple sets of blades (generally 2 to 8 pieces), which are driven by a motor to rotate at high speed through a belt or coupling (the rotational speed is usually 400 to 1200r/min).
Wood feeding and cutting:
Wood is fed in through the feeding port, impacted by the rotating blades and pressed against the baffle plate inside the casing. Through the shearing and squeezing action of the blades, the wood is sliced into wood chips.
Wood chip screening and discharge:
After cutting, the wood chips are screened through the screen mesh below the drum. The wood chips that meet the particle size requirements are discharged from the discharge port, while the unqualified materials (too large or too thick) are returned to the cutting area for secondary processing.
Influence of key parameters
The blade Angle (usually 30°-45°) and the rotational speed of the drum determine the cutting force.
The gap between the baffle plate and the blade controls the thickness of the wood chip (adjustable range: 1-5mm).

01Wood Chipping Process
This process is mainly used to grind the wood logs whose diameter is under 25cm without barks into wood chips with size 25-55mm.   The finish wood chips size can be adjustable by changing different sizes of screeners and adding flying knives inside the wood chipper.
02Fine Crushing Process
This process is mainly used to crush  wood chips into sawdust,to ensure the density and combustion efficiency during the subsequent pressing and forming process,Hammer mill can quickly crush the materials to the required particle size.   The production process is continuous, which greatly improves the production efficiency.
03Drying Process
This process is mainly used to dry the moisture content of sawdust to 10-15%.  Drying the raw material to the proper moisture content is essential for the manufacture of high quality pellets. .   For a small batch, the raw material can be left in the sun for at least 24 hours to dry naturally;   For larger batches, a dryer can be used to dry the raw material to the desired moisture content
04Pelleting Process
This process is mainly used to products pellets with φ6-8mm.  TONY's new 304 stainless steel vertical ring die pellet machine is extruded by ring die and roller group, the raw material is squeezed into the ring die hole to form, and constantly extruded to the outer end.   When pelleting, it is necessary to ensure the uniform feed .
05Cooling Process
This process is mainly used to cool pellets from 80-90ºC to 20-30ºC.  The freshly pressed pellets have a relatively high temperature and are soft.   They need to be cooled and shaped through a cooler .   After cooling, the hardness of the particles increases, making them easier to store and transport
06Packing Process
This process is mainly used to pack pellets into 15-50KG/Bags.  Once the pellets are cooled, they are transported to a packing facility, packed and stored in a dry place.  Finished wood pellet products are usually packaged in ton bags or small bags to meet the needs of different customers.
